The Crime Branch has arrested fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan’s brother-in-law Jayant Mulye who allegedly arranged the murder of a businessman in 2005. The murder, according to police, was the fallout of a cable war that claimed the life of Sanjay Gupta, who owned television cable and internet company Supreme Satellite Vision, on March 21, 2005.

Gupta had been murdered at his Nerul office in Navi Mumbai when the shooters entered his office and opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.
According to reports quoting police, Mulye, now 52, had asked his brother-in-law Chhota Rajan to arrange the murder of Gupta, who was posing a challenge to his cable business.

As Mulye was hiding in Thane, Dahisar, Pune, Konkan and other areas in Maharashtra, a trap was laid in Thane on Wednesday night where he was held by the Anti-Robbery cell officers.

Reports quoting the police said on Friday, Mulye and Rajan – both hail from Tilaknagar – who have been friends since childhood became relatives later. Mulye’s current residential address remains Tilakanagar.
