Sreesanth-Chandila-ChavanDespite receiving clean chit from a trial court in Delhi, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila are still living with life ban from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, confirming the life ban on the trio said “For the moment the life ban stays and I haven’t received any request from anybody regarding Sreesanth. If some request does come I will look into the matter.”

Thakur also tried to clear the confusion surrounding the recent reports about the acquitted players’ role in the infamous Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal.

“Discharged by criminal court and acquitted after trial is totally different. Discharged from criminal proceedings doesn’t necessarily imply that the person charged is not guilty. Court has also appreciated the effort of the Delhi Police and discharged and exonerated are two different things,” the report quoted him as saying.

Earlier, the BCCI even sent out a media release stating their stand on the case, irrespective of the court ruling.

“Any disciplinary proceeding or decision taken by the BCCI is independent to any criminal proceeding and has no bearing. The decisions of the BCCI, based on its independent disciplinary action, shall remain unaltered,” the release stated.

In between, Sreesanth – who has represented India in the past – stays optimistic of his return in the national team and said that he will go against the Indian cricket board.

“I’ll not go against the BCCI. If I am known as Sreesanth, it is because of the BCCI,” The 32-year-old had said.

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has even supported their most famous player after trial court dropped all charges against the three players on grounds of insufficient evidence.
