In a spine-chilling incident that occurred on Wednesday in Rohtas district of Bihar, a group of four men burnt a Mahadalit boy alive simply because his goat had entered the agricultural field of the assailants.

The assailants accused the 15-year-old boy Sairam of letting his goat enter the farm of Kumkum Singh, a village strongman. Singh, with his three associates, thrashed the boy black and blue. The boy escaped from them and hid in his house.

The assailants forcibly entered the house and set him ablaze, pouring kerosene on him.

Bikramganj SDPO Ashok Kumar Das said the victim had sustained 90% burn injuries. He was rushed to Bikramganj for treatment, but died soon after being admitted to a government hospital.

Das said, police have registered an FIR against Singh and his three associates on the basis of the statement of the victim’s father. A special police team has been constituted to arrest the assailants.

Raids were being conducted. However, no arrest was made till the time of going to press.
