Maharashtra Government on Tuesday announced to give Rs. 50 lakh each to gold medal winners from the state, for their excellent performance at the recently concluded Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Earlier, Commonwealth gold medalists used to receive Rs. 10 lakh as prize money, an official spokesperson said.
The Maharashtra government would also give Rs. 30 lakh each to silver medalists and Rs. 20 lakh each to bronze medal winners, the official said.
Earlier, silver medalists used to receive Rs. 7.5 lakh, while bronze medalists used to get Rs. 5 lakh.
Sportspersons from Maharashtra won a gold, a silver and three bronze medals at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
