The main eye-witness in the alleged gang-rape and murder of two sisters in Badaun has failed to pass the lie-detector test on Wednesday.

A mobile phone has also been recovered from his possession which he had earlier denied having, according to CBI.

The father of one of the victims had earlier alleged discrimination on the part of the CBI during its investigation in the case.

He reportedly claimed that police had destroyed the evidence and threatened that the family members would hang themselves from the same tree if “justice was not done in the case”.

He had also appealed to the Prime Minister to help them get justice.

The five accused in the case, including the two constables, were recently granted bail from a local court after the chargesheet was not filed within stipulated 90 days period.

The body of the two cousins aged 14 and 15 years were found hanging from a tree in the Katra-Saadatganj village in Uttar Pradesh in May triggering national outrage.

During initial investigation, it was suspected that the victims were raped.

However, Hyderabad-based Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) has ruled out sexual assault on the teenage girls.
