Major reshuffle in Congress likely after Parliament session ends

Days after being authorised by the Congress Working Committee to prepare a roadmap for the party after its humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi may soon effect key organisational changes in the party.

According to reports, the reshuffle is likely to take place after the conclusion of Parliament’s current session on June 11.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi is currently believed to be working on the reshuffle.

If sources are to be believed, the Congress chief may soon replace many general secretaries, secretaries and state Congress chiefs in the days to come.

This comes after the Congress’s colossal defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections with the party ending up winning only 44 seats.

Congress leaders have maintained that Sonia Gandhi or party Vice President Rahul Gandhi alone cannot be blamed for the Congress’s defeat. The two had reportedly offered to resign after the party’s defeat but the party leaders rejected their resignations.
