Major reshuffle of IPS officers; Himanshu Roy transferred

The Maharashtra government on Monday transferred 37 top IPS officers, including Nagpur Police Commissioner KK Pathak, and Himanshu Roy, the assistant DG of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

Pathak has now been appointed as the Pune top cop. The transfer comes in the wake of a rise in the crime graph of Nagpur, the home of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

S P Yadav, Additional DG of CID, will replace Pathak as the Nagpur police commissioner.

Satish Chandra Mathur, the present Pune police commissioner, has been transferred as the Director General (legal and technical) on promotion to the rank of DG.

Additional commissioner of police (economic offences wing), Rajvardhan, has been promoted to the rank of Special IG and sent to Nagpur as a joint commissioner of police.

Roy has been replaced by Vivek Phansalkar, currently a joint CP (administration). Roy would be now additional DG (housing).

Deven Bharati, special IG (law and order), will be the new joint CP (law and order), Mumbai.

Dhananjay Kamlakar, joint CP (law and order) will be joint CP (economic offences wing). Amitabh Gupta, special IG (Konkan) will be special IG (VIP security).

Sanjay Barve, additional DG (Railways), has been transferred as additional DG (anti-corruption bureau).
