Breaking her silence over the Burdwan blast, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of playing communal politics to push out Bangladeshi immigrants from West Bengal.

“The militants came here in 2007. Who was in power then? Not all Bangladeshi immigrants are terrorists. They are very much Indian citizens,” she said.

The West Bengal CM aslo said that they will not let the BJP succeed in displacing the migrants from the state. “The BJP had announced before the polls that they will push back all immigrants. We will never tolerate that. Bengal is a land for all faiths. That is our tradition so it shall remain,” she said while appealing to people not to allow any kind of communal divide in the state.

The BJP has been accusing the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal for harbouring terrorists and providing a safe haven for them to execute their terror attacks.

Two Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh militants were killed in a blast at a TMC supporter’s home in October. The case has revealed an extensive terror network in the area which raised questions against the TMC government.
