A 40 years old man has been acquitted of the charge of murdering his wife.

District judge RR Gandhi said in his ruling last week that the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt against Rajaram Janu Bhoye, the accused.

According to the prosecution, Bhoye, resident of Raytale village in the predominantly tribal Jawhar tehsil, beat his wife Yamuna to death on January 16, 2011 at brick kiln owned by Shyam Maruti Gaikhe near Vaijola in Bhiwandi tehsil.

The judge observed that the eye-witnesses examined by the prosecution in fact contradicted each other’s version of the event.
