A person shocked everyone in his neighbour when he set his mother on fire after dragging and brutally thrashing her for hours at Raguvansh Nagar in Purnia on Tuesday.
The incident happened over a dispute on ancestral land. Ravindra Rai, the accused, first brutally thrashed his mother, sister and niece and later put kerosene on the mother before setting her on fire.
Police have registered a complaint against the accused and two others on the basis of the statement given by the daughter of the deceased.
All the accused are absconding and police have launched a manhunt for their earliest arrest.
