Mark Taylor best Australian captain in last 25 years of Ashes: Shane Warne

Spin legend Shane Warne on Wednesday shared the first installment of his “best” on Ashes from the last quarter of a century which will include best combined Ashes team, best Australian team, best England team and on other general aspects of the game.

The 45-year-old from Melbourne wrote on a Facebook post that he will also provide his take on the recently concluded 2015 Ashes series, which was won 3-2 by hosts England.

To start with, the leg-spinner named his Aussie compatriots Bob Simpson, Mark Taylor, Mark Waugh and Ian Healy as the best coach, best captain, best all-round fielder and best wicket-keeper from last 25 years.

On a personal note, Warne also revealed that Australia’s 1993 Ashes tour to England and the tour of South Africa the following year have been his favourites.

Regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all-time, Warne took 708 Test wickets in 145 matches, which is second only to Sri Lankan wizard and his long time rival Muttiah Muralitharan’s 800. The Aussie great also took 293 wickets in 194 One-Day International matches, for a 1001 career total.
