The Met department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Rain hit several parts of Uttarakhand in the past 24 hours with the Kumaon region being most affected.
South Uttarakhand is feared to receive the heaviest downpour. The disaster management department has begun the process of evacuating people where they will be provided with food and shelter.
Last year’s flash floods had ravaged the state leaving thousands dead.
