In a letter to Fadnavis, Congress MLC and AICC media panel member Anant Gadgil demanded action against officials concerned of MIT under section 6(1) of the Ragging Act for “failure” to take action against the guilty involved in the crime.
The alleged incident had taken place six months back when a first year student of Polymer Engineering was ragged by his seniors who subjected him to physical and sexual abuse.
“The victim is a meritorious student. He was under mental trauma and admitted to a hospital where he was under treatment for three weeks in ICU. His parents filed a complaint with the police and education departments,” Gadgil wrote in his letter.
“Similarly, despite a complaint against the department head, principal and class teacher, no action has been taken by the institution. Six months have passed after the incident and the victim’s parents are still fighting for justice,” reads the letter.
Gadgil urged Fadnavis to intervene and initiate “strict action” against the guilty.
