MMRCL appoints consultant for metro line 3

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, the implementing agency for the Rs. 23,136 crore Colaba-Seepz corridor of metro rail here, has appointed Hong Kong-based Aecom Asia-led consortium as a consultant to assist it in developing the 33.5 km-long underground project.

The consortium, led by AECOM Asia, comprises Japan-based Padeco, LBG in USA and French firm Egis Rail.

“The appointment of the general consultant paves way for the speedy implementation of the metro line 3 project and they will assist Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) in design, supervision, quality control, safety and contract management,” its Managing Director Sanjay Sethi said.

The overall scope of the consultant includes assisting the firm in evaluation of bids for civil works and appoint the contractor, review and proof-checking of detailed designs prepared by the contractor’s designer, preparation of tender design and construction supervision.

The other consortia that participated in the global invitation for Expression of Interest included DB International, Germany, Geodata, Italy and Oriental Consulting, Japan, the release said.

Meanwhile, the MMRCL Board has appointed Subodh Kumar Gupta as Functional Director (projects) who will also be additional Whole-Time Executive Director of the company, while Ajay Kumar Bhatt will be Additional Whole-Time Executive Director (systems).
