City planning authority MMRDA has invited global tenders to appoint a consultant to assist it in the development of an integrated ticketing system (ITS) that will enable passengers to buy tickets for different modes of transport.

With this system, commuters will be able to buy tickets for metro rails, mono rails, suburban rails, buses and pay for other public transport related fees, fares and tolls.

The scope of work of the consultants include reviewing and updating the earlier study reports and finalise system architecture specifications and technology, prepare tender documents, manage the bid process, act as a project management consultants (PMC) for successful implementation of the project among many.

“The effort is to ultimately rid the commuter of the daily piecemeal cash transactions. Mumbai is a very busy city and such a system will come very handy,” MMRDA Joint Project Director, (PR) Dilip Kawathkar said.

The bidders will have to submit the request for proposal (RFP) on February 12 next year.
