A multi-sports facility, which is equipped with training resources for football, cricket, volleyball and tennis, has come up in the metropolis.

The centre, “Homeground”, was launched at Thakur Stadium in Thakur Village in the Western suburb of Kandivali East by former India football skipper Bhaichung Bhitia.

thakur stadiumBhutia was very impressed watching the children actively and passionately competing in football and volleyball matches, said a media release today.

“There are not many proper playing facilities for children in the country. But the sports facilities at Homeground are fantastic and would certainly give the kids a great opportunity to enjoy training or playing the game,” he said.

“Football skills like dribbling, passing, trapping are best learnt on small pitches at a very young age. Homeground is an ideal facility to train young, talented footballers and sharpen their skills,” he added.

The project, an initiative of DPS Sports and Leisure and promoted by Archana Thangri and Thakur College of Science and Commerce, would offer training facilities for football, cricket, volleyball and tennis, the release added.
