The Mumbai Police has downgraded the security of around 40 Bollywood celebrities after an annual assessment of threat perception.
Reports say that the security given to some of these celebrities has also been withdrawn.
The Mumbai Police has said that there was nothing new in the move as it was a routine practice to analyse threat perception and review the security given to celebrities.
Police confirmed they were providing security to around 40 bollywood celebrities. But the numbers have now reduced to 15 personalities who have genuine threats to their lives.
Sources says, the security cover of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raj Kumar Hirani, Farah Khan, Karim Morani and few others have been withdrawn completely.
Those 15 personalities who would be getting the security cover includes Akshay Kumar, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar.
