Chhattisgarh State education department on Saturday launched a toll-free helpline number to monitor the attendance of teachers in government schools. Through this number, students can complain if teachers are found absent from schools.
Attending the state level review meeting of inspector of schools and district elementary education officers, the minister told media persons that this helpline number (1800-1024-085) will be advertised in newspapers very soon and people can complain between 8 am and 6 pm.
The entire process will be digitalized. The headmasters will get one call in the morning and another in the evening. The helpline number has been launched for middle elementary and lower primary schools for now.
The toll-free number has been put up on the notice boards in the premises of every school in the area. It will be extended to high schools, higher secondary schools and colleges later.
According to the officials, there was only one way to monitor the attendance of teachers, through written complaint. Now, this alternative method will facilitate the complaints of the schools located in villages and rural areas.
