Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ram Vilas Vedanti said on Tuesday that his organization will convert 4000 Muslims residents of Ayodhya in the month of January.
Vedanti refused to give details of the Muslim families fearing the administration will not allow the conversion drive.
According to Vedanti, the most of the families belong to Faizabad, Ambedkarnagar, Gonda, Bahraich and Sultanpur.
Muslims are willingly converting to Hinduism, he added.
Reacting on the development, Faizabad DIG Sanjay Kakkar said that action will be taken against people who are trying to stoke communal tesions.
Najmul Hasan Ghani, a Muslim League leader has demanded the arrest of Ram Vilas Vedanti for dividing the two communities.
