The Punjab Home Deaprtment has reportedly warned provincial police force that some Chechen and Uzbek militants, who were driven out of Waziristan in the wake of the Zarb-i-Azb military operation, are trying to join the Islamic State (IS) in the country.

In a letter to the divisional police chiefs, intelligence agencies and the counter-terrorism department of Punjab, the home department said that there were reports that some militant groups of Pakistan were trying to join the IS due to its anti-Shia policies, reported the Dawn.

The letter said that intelligence reports suggested that the `Salafi` groups were inclined toward the terror group which might be seeking support from other terror groups.

The home department has asked law-enforcement agencies to keep an eye on individuals associated with banned outfits and their activities.
