A cat owner has sued an Islamabad veterinarian, accusing him of negligence that allegedly led to her cat’s death, the media reported on Wednesday.
Mismah Sundus told Dawn she took her two-month-old cat for a routine check-up to Faisal Khan’s clinic in Sector F-7 of the Pakistan capital.
“My cat was admitted to the hospital and I was asked to return the following day,” Sundus said.
The same evening, when she picked up her cat from the clinic and returned home, the cat fell sick.
Sundus said she rushed her kitten to another doctor’s clinic, where it died.
“The doctor told me my cat had been kept at a lower temperature, not suitable for mammals. This is why my cat died,” she added.
A post-mortem report was also submitted in the local court.
The plaintiff accused Faisal Khan and his staff of negligence, and asked for Pakistani Rs 25 million in fine.
Sundus also demanded that all accused serve a jail sentence. She made a plea to the veterinary council to install CCTV cameras in these clinics to monitor how animals are treated.
