Shiv Sena on Monday lashed out at Prithviraj Chavan, saying the Maharashtra CM is like a patient in intensive care unit (ICU).
The party lambasted at the Maharashtra CM after Chavan criticised Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray.
After the two leaders participated in an event organised by a TV channel here on Saturday, Chavan had said that Uddhav lacked the experience to run government as he wasn’t part of the Sena-BJP government which came to power in 1995.
“Chavan says Uddhav didn’t have any experience. What experience did he have when he became chief minister? Because he is finding it tough to get a safe constituency to contest the poll, his mental condition has become unstable like that of a patient in ICU,” an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamana said here.
Also, did Chavan have the guts to ask a ‘loser’ like Rahul Gandhi what experience did he have to aspire for PM’s post, the edit said.
What experience certificate did Rajiv Gandhi have when he landed from the plane cockpit onto the prime ministerial chair, it said.
The Shiv Sena also said a clerk in the secretariat has more experience than Chavan regarding governance. “What experience did (Chavan) have when he was made the chief minister some three years ago, due to a favour by (Congress president) Sonia Gandhi? When he came here, he lacked knowledge about the sub-districts of the state and did not know the names of his party legislators in western Maharashtra…His posting was only because of Sonia Gandhi, otherwise, all his experience was a clerical stint at a central ministry…In terms of experience, any desk officer in Mantralaya (secretariat) has more experience than Chavan,” it said.
“Chavan warmed the chief ministerial chair and it did not benefit Maharashtra,” it added.
“Besides, all these people who boast of ‘experience’, haven’t they pushed the state and country to economic disaster? We wonder why Chavan is making a laughing stock of himself when he is on the verge of demitting the Chief Minister’s Office,” the editoria said.
The editorial reiterated Thackeray’s often repeated stance that he was not eyeing the chief minister post, but would not shy away if the responsibility was thrust on him.
“We shall spray and kill all the bugs of corruption that thrived in Chavan’s chief ministerial chair…As for his tenure, he can frame and hang the certificate of experience in his home,” it said.
The Assembly Elections are due to take place in Maharashtra on October 15.
