Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Tuesday appointed a new party chief for Maharashtra.
Raosaheb Patil Danve will now be the president of the party in the state. He succeeds Devendra Fadnavis who is now the state’s first BJP chief minister.
Danve is at present Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
There had been speculation that Danve, a Maratha, was among the frontrunner for the job. He was a key aide of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde.
