India’s premier bowler Ravichandran Ashwin is growing in stature in Test cricket and his rise is a phenomenal success for the team under Virat Kohli. Ashwin made the difference for the hosts as Kohli’s side beat South Africa on Friday in the third Test match in Nagpur.

The off-spinner finished with 12 wickets in the Test match that included two five-fors.

Ashwin who earned a lot of praise from skipper Kohli in recent times, was well supported by Amit Mishra and Ravindra Jadeja.

Ashwin never let the South African batsmen settle down in this Test match and kept asking questions repeatedly. Even in South Africa’s second innings when Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis were batting solidly in the middle, Ashwin was patient and made sure they don’t overpower him.

Ashwin has continued his excellent form right from the Test series against Sri Lanka earlier this season. Ashwin’s maturity has been a major highlight of India’s good showing.

The Indian team has been dependent on Ashwin and it looks good that the bowler is ready to take the responsibility and get his side back to the top in the longer version of the game.

Ashwin is having a dream 2015 so far and leads the tally with the most wickets taken this term (55). Stuart Broad is on second place with 51 wickets and has played five Tests more than Ashwin.
