Even after bowling his heart out and playing a pivotal role in helping India to clinch a Test series in Sri Lanka after 22 long years, Indian speedster Ishant Sharma faced criticism from a section for his over aggressive attitude in the third Test at Colombo.

Former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi termed Sharma’s behaviour as pathetic.

But S Sreesanth, who was recently cleared of all charges relating of spot-fixing, looked delighted with the aggressive attitude of lanky speedster Sharma

“Look at any pacer playing any form of cricket and you will see that he wants to be aggressive. Being aggressive is in the DNA of a fast bowler. Without aggression, a pacer cannot be at his best. What is aggression? It’s a quality that brings the best out of a pacer,” said Sreesanth.

He even praised Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who won his maiden full-fledged Test series, for backing Ishant.

“I must say I was delighted to see Virat Kohli support Ishant Sharma. Virat is naturally aggressive. I like his style. Indian cricket and world cricket need captains like him,” said Sreesanth.

Ishant, 27, has been suspended for one match after his confrontation with Dhammika Prasad in the final Test.
