Eid was celebrated amidst a partial curfew in Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The curfew was relaxed from 7 am to 11 am on the Ambala road and Behat road.

The other areas will get to see curfew relaxed from 3 pm to 7 pm. But there is still curfew on the highway dividing Saharanpur.

The Uttar Pradesh Congress has sent a six-member fact finding team to Saharanpur to assess the situation. According to UP intelligence sources, local authorities have been warned about the possibility of clashes.

Prayers can only be offered in the local mosque in areas where curfew has not been lifted. Petrol is being rationed – 4 litre for bikes and 10 litre for cars. Sixty-six people have now been arrested so far.
