Hours after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal claimed that there is a nexus between Bharatiya Janata Party Delhi unit president Satish Upadhyay and power companies, the BJP held a press conference on Wednesday evening to clarify on the allegations made.

In his rebuttal to AAP chief Kejriwal’s allegations, Upadhyay said that he should either give proof of companies that he’s alleging me to be part of or he should quit politics. He, in the conference, also gave Kejriwal 24 hours time to come up with the proof to back his claims.

The Delhi BJP chief also added that the party will definitely file criminal defamation case against the AAP convenor if Kejriwal fails to provide any proof.

“Kejriwal can’t make baseless allegations like these, he should quit politics,” Upadhyay said, while further saying that the former Delhi chief minister should answer to people of Delhi for lying to them over and over again.

Also present at the conference Delhi BJP unit vice president, Ashish Sood, said that he will resign if allegations of a nexus with the Delhi discoms are proven.

Kejriwal had alleged that Upadhyay owns 6 companies which install and replace fast-running electricity meters in Delhi and that all of them work with power discoms. “He should come clean on the conflict of interest,” Arvind Kejriwal had said.
