In a major haul, security forces recovered eleven bombs from a garbage bin in Anna Nagar area of Madurai in Tamil Nadu on Monday.

According to initial reports, police personnel are inspecting the spot and have also informed the bomb squad team. The entire area has been cordoned-off and police have restricted the movement of traffic in this area.

However, as per some unconfirmed reports, it is yet to be known that the recovered bombs are crude or Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Police said that the intent behind this act was to spread terror. Cops are suspecting that local rowdy gang placed the bomb here.

Earlier in 2011, a bomb weighing seven kgs was found on the outskirts of Madurai just an hour before senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani was meant to travel over a bridge underneath which the Improvised Explosive Device was placed.

In 1998, a series of blasts hit Coimbatore hours before Advani was to address an election rally. 58 people were killed and over 200 were injured.
