A senior citizen woman named Vemal Bederkar accompanied by 44 members of the Jaisingh chawl was called for a hearing of demolition order issued to chawl members.
After the conclusion of hearing, the Advocate of the Builder Pawan K Pandey began passing comment and abusing the members. When the members intervened, the advocate pushed two women as Vemal sustained injuries on her nose. Police arrived at the spot and all members and advocate were taken to the Marine Drive Police Station.”
After venturing out of the police station, Vemal became unconscious on account of high BP and was taken to GK Hospital in Fort. The police have not registered any complaint against the advocate.
According to senior police officials, “We are investigating the case. We are waiting for the arrival of medical reports and will decide about the charges to be filed against the advocate.”
