The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Shiv Sena has denied any announcement of Rs. 21,000 cash reward to Hindu families having 10 or more children.

The report sparked controversy in the political circles of the Uttar Pradesh.

Anil Singh, Shive Sena’s UP chief said, “I would like to clear my stand on the alleged distribution of doles. Shiv Sena is not supposed to give any money to any Hindu family for having more children.”

Singh added that, “Our fight is against the family planning measures which have been forced on Hindus while no one asks Muslims to follow the same.”

Singh also warned that his party will not allow any family planning measure to succeed in the state until it is followed by both communities in equal measure.

Reacting sharply to Shiv Sena’s alleged announcement, AMU professor Mohibul Haque said, “This kind of statements promote overpopulation. It is a fascist propaganda.”
