Even as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prepares for the inauguration of its first government in Maharashtra, reports on Thursday indicated that Shiv Sena will not attend the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Friday.

BJP’s chief minister designate Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday called up NCP boss Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray personally to invite them for the swearing-in ceremony to be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Earlier, Sena praised Prime Minister NarendraModi and chief minister-designate Devendra Fadnavis, saying the state can expect ‘acchhe din’ (good days) under them, but cautioned its former ally against accepting NCP’s support.

Sena expressed pleasure over Fadnavis leading the state and said that it was a matter of pride that Maharashtra is once again being led by Vidarbha and that it is responsibility of Fadnavis to fulfill people’s aspirations.

The swearing-in ceremony of the BJP’s first government in Maharashtra promises to be a grand affair with top personalities and celebs expected at the Wankhede Stadium.

Maharashtra Governor C.V. Rao will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Chief Minister-designate Devendra Fadnavis, 44, and a small initial team of cabinet ministers Friday evening.

Prime Minister NarendraModi, BJP President Amit Shah, union ministers, top BJP leaders and party chief ministers will attend the ceremony.
