In an unfortunate incident, a woman who was driven over by starvation was forced to toss her starving baby in front of a moving vehicle in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district on Friday.
The destitute woman was unable to breastfeed her baby as she had not eaten food for the past 4 days and was forced to take such a drastic step. Miraculously, the month-old baby survived unhurt, an eyewitness told police.
According to a police official, the woman hurled her baby in front of a moving auto-rickshaw when he started crying but was saved after the driver slmmed on breaks and saved him.
The incident took place in Civil Lines police station area. The woman was taken to a police station where her baby was breastfed by another woman, who came on request of the cops. The woman cannot understand Hindi, said police.
Both of them were shifted to a rehabilitation centre where they have been kept under watch. Police are trying to ascertain the woman’s identity and gather information about her family.
