In the second major case of drunk driving in the capital this week, the driver of an SUV ran over three people sleeping on a road in Central Delhi; one has died and another is seriously injured.
The men who were hit are rickshaw pullers. Beer cans were recovered from the SUV; the driver and another person who was in the car, have been arrested.
The tyre of the SUV burst after the car hit a divider and the driver then lost control of the vehicle, said the police.
On Sunday, another SUV driver ran over 13 people sleeping on the road; one of them died. The driver, who was drunk according the police, is in jail.
Charges of culpable homicide apply to the drivers in both the cases which have shocked the city this week.
