In what may sound bizarre to many, the leader of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has condemned the attack on the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, stating that the Islamists terrorist outfits have offended the Islam and Prophet Mohammed more than the cartoons mocking them.

According to Daily Star, Hasan Nasrallah in a televised speech in an event marking the Prophet’s birthday said that the Islamists terrorist groups’ are insulting Islam, Prophet Mohammed, Quran and Muslim nations more than the Westerners who show them in bad light.

He further termed the Islamists militant groups as ‘takfirs’, a term used for those Muslims who accuse other Muslims of apostasy.

Although Hezbollah has been declared as a terrorist group by US, it is one of the political parties based in Lebanon. While Hezobollah is Shiite militia, ISIS and al Qaeda are Sunni Muslim groups. The group had also supported Syria President Bashar al-Assad’s army.

Nasrallah’s remarks have come a day after French forces killed the two brothers who carried out attack on Paris’ satarical magazine Charlie Hebdo. They also killed an Islamist ally on Friday after three blood-soaked days that left 17 other people dead and created panic.
