After the resident of Thane’s Vartak Nagar Ward no 5 demanded better connectivity since a long time, the Thane Municipal Corporation on August 13 inaugurated a new road from Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha to Pokharan Rd Number 2 in the presence of MP Shrikant Shinde, Ram Repale, Sunil Chavan, Naresh Mhaske, Deepak Vetkar and others. The newly constructed road was inaugurated by Thane Guardian and State Cabinet Minister Eknath Shinde and Thane Mayor Meenakshi Shinde.

The TMC has recently started focusing on infrastructural projects for better connectivity and decreasing traffic congestion even in the outskirts of the city. TMC even decided in 2017 to invest Rs 5,493 crore to transform Thane into a smart city.

Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde said, “Till previous year, Vartak Nagar had no good connectivity roads and this project will benefit people staying in and around this area. Thane Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal has also decided to provide more good facilities like a footpath, new lights, etc. I would like to name Dharmaveer Anand Chintamani Dighe who was the inspiration behind these developmental projects.

He further added, “Balasaheb Thackeray was in love with Thane. He took initiative to build Dr Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha. We are developing 30 acres-international standard central park in Thane. The Metro project will also give easy connectivity to Thane.”

Thane Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal said, “We have already finalised the alignment of Thane’s internal metro services with the main metro services in Mumbai.”
