Two persons were detained in Bhiwandi here after they were found carrying cash of over Rs. 2.80 crore, police said.
The two men identified as Ashish Patel (35) and Latif Patel (33) were traveling to Ahmedabad from Thane in a Scropio car on Thursday morning. Based on a specific tip off, they were intercepted by the police.
On searching the vehicle, police recovered multiple wads of cash concealed below the seat. The total amount of seized money was around Rs 2.84 crores and the two were subsequently detained, police said.
IT department officials have been contacted for further probe, they added.
