Two rape cases registered at Mira Road

Two different rape cases have been registered at Mira Road. In the first incident the accused had raped the victim after she failed to repay the loan. In her statement, the victim informed the police that she had availed a loan of Rs 35,000 from the accused Kamlesh Jain a year ago but failed to repay it. Subsequently, he assaulted and raped the victim several times on different occasions between April 2013 to May 2014.

Sub-Inspector S.S. Karande from Navghar Police Station said, “We have filed a case against the accused Kamlesh Jain but he is yet to be arrested.”

In the second incident, the Mira Road Police have arrested an estate agent who lured a widow by promising to provide flat to her at cheap rates. Later, the accused raped the widow.

The accused has been identified as Salim Menon a resident of Malad. In the year 2011, the victim came into contact with the accused when she came to his office for purchasing a flat.

In the police statement, the victim mentioned, “Salim promised me to offer flat to me at cheap rates and asked me to pay money. Soon he came closer to me and started having an affair with me. When I asked him to return my money he refused.”

The victim then filed a complaint with the Mira Road Police station.

Police Inspector Ajij Bagwan from Mira Road Police Station said, “We have arrested the accused. Several crime cases have been registered against him in the past. The accused has been sent into police custody till 10th July.”
