UPSC releases results of Civil Services 2013, Jaipur’s Gaurav Agrawal tops merit list

The Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) on Thursday released the list of candidates to be appointed to the highly coveted civil services.

Among the toppers in the merit list of Civil Services 2013, Gaurav Agrawal stood first.

Jaipur’s Gaurav Agrawal stood first in the exam with Economics as his optional subject.

He holds Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science) degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow.

This was his second attempt.

The second position was secured by Munish Sharma, while Rachit Raj and Akshay Tripatji stood third and fourth respectively. Bharti Dixit stood fifth, thereby securing the highest rank among women candidates. The other five candidates who bagged the top ten ranking included Sakshi Sawhney, Chanchal Rana, Johny Tom Varghese, Divyanshu Jha, and Medha Roopam.

As many as 1,112 candidates were recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Groups A and B of the central services.

The results are based on the scores of the candidates comprising a written test (held in December 2013) followed by personality test interviews (held in April-June 2014).
