US-led-anti-ISIt’s been exactly two months since the US-led anti-jihadist group’s warplanes started pummelling the Islamic State positions in Syria and according to a rights group, over 900 people have been killed in the strikes, the majority of those killed being IS fighters.

According to a British-based monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), 910 deaths have been documented in last two months during which the US-led anti ISIS coalition carried out numerous strikes in different cities, targeting Islamic State fighters and their facilities.

According to the SOHR, of documented deaths, a majority of 785 were the fighters from the IS, most of them being Non-Syrians. The IS fighters were killed by coalition air strikes on their headquarters in Homs, Hama, al-Hasakah, al-Raqqa, Der-Ezzor, and Aleppo, adds the group.

Other than IS fighters, the US-led coalition warplanes have also been targeting the al-Nusra Front and some 72 fighters from this group are said to have been killed by coalition air strikes on their HQs in the western countryside of Aleppo and the northern countryside of Idlib.

Also, 52 civilians including women and children are said to have been killed in US airstrikes on oil fields and refineries in al-Hasakah and Der-Ezzor countrysides, al-Raqqa, Around Menbej northeast of Aleppo, and Idlib countryside, reports the rights group.

The US warplanes started hitting the ISIS positions and facilities across Syria since September 23, a wek after the ISIS launched a major offensive on the border town of Kobane on September 16.

Though the SOHR has documented 910 deaths since September 23, but says that the real number could be much higher as there is absolute secrecy on casualties and due to the difficulty of access to many areas and villages that have witnessed violent clashes and bombardment by the two sides.

Syria, which was already mired in a civil war since 2011, got another ominous jolt when the ISIS in June established a Caliphate across captured parts of Iraq and Syria.

Since then, the ISIS continues unleashing a bloody trail of terror after staging beheadings and mass execution of Syrian troops as well as civilians.

According to the United Nations, around 200,000 people have been killed in Syria`s conflict, which is in its fourth year.
