Vikas Patil murder case: Hearing to start from Monday

A local court will start from Monday the hearing in the 2012 Vikas Patil murder case when all the 16 accused will be produced.

Sixteen persons were apprehended on charges of killing 32-year-old Vikas Patil at Umbarde village in the district over a long standing dispute on land related matter.

“The examination in chief of the witnesses will start tomorrow in the Kalyan sessions court” Special Public Prosecutor in the case Vikas Patil-Shirgaonkar said.

There was a long standing dispute between the members of the victim’s family and families of the accused over land issues.

This led to several cases of attacks wherein police complaints were filled on couple of occasions. On October 3, 2012, the accused armed with weapons attacked and killed Vikas when he had gone to open a liquor shop in Umbarde village in the district, the SPP added.

A case under relevant sections of IPC including 302 (murder) and section 37(1) and 135 of the Bombay Police Act was registered.

The accused were identified as Kaka Patil, Pradeep Patil, Umesh Patil, Anil Patil, Ranshul alias Ransha Patil, Bhagwan Patil, Sanjay Lahu Karbari, Kisan Kalu Patil, Bharat Patil, Sandeep Patl, Yeshwant Patil, Kabir Lahu Karbari, Sharad Patil, Madhukar Patil, Baliram Patil and Minesh Patil.

All the 15 accused expect Minesh are in jail, he informed.
