The Congress party on Friday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party for failing to keep pressure on the Pakistan government to keep Lashkar-e-Toiba Lakhvi commander and 26/11 Mumbai attacks mastermind behind bars.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former telecom minister Milind Deora tweeted, “Where’s a 56-inch chest when you need one?”
Lakhvi was released from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Pakistan late Thursday night in secret and was received by his associates.
Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari termed Lakhvi’s release as a failure of the Bharatiya Janata Party and also called it the result of release of Hurriyat hardliner Masarat Alam from Jammu and Kashmir jail.
Tewari said, “This could be because of the PDP- BJP government releasing Masarat Alam. The signal must have been picked up by Pakistan that the Indian government released a terrorist. It is a failure of the BJP government that they have failed to keep pressure on Pakistan to keep the matermind behind bars.”
