AAP leader Preeti Sharma Menon launched a scathing attack against BJP for nominating Pravin Darekar and RN Singh for polls to State Legislative Council. Darekar is accused of embezzling 123 crores from Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank of which he was Chairman. Interestingly the FIR against Pravin Darekar was filed by BJP Secretary Vivekanand Gupta as at that time the former was in MNS. Later Darekar quit MNS to join BJP and the entire scam investigation went into a “go-slow” mode.
Preeti Sharma Menon said, “Aam Aadmi Party condemns this deal making of the BJP. We feel the stature to the Legislative Council will be diminished when such tainted candidates are nominated. BJP should withdraw the nominations of scam accused leaders.”
“The BJP seems to be totally bankrupt morally as well as in need of desperate funds – that’s why it clings on to the likes of Pravin Darekar, R P Singh and even Eknath Khadse and leaders who are embroiled in scams but are important to raise funds for the party from dubious sections and for vote banks,” she added.
