As the tension among the top brass in the Aam Aadmi Party is growing, party’s senior leader Yogendra Yadav said that as long as the issues remain, the party is alive.
Yadav said that there is some impatience within the party which needs introspection.
The party had held its National Executive Committee meeting wherein the party discussed the resignations served by its top leaders.
However, the party on Saturday issued a statement that it has rejected the resignations submitted by its leaders Yogendra Yadav and Naveen Jaihind.
Yadav too, while rejecting any rift in the party, said, “My party has appreciated the issues raised by me. Arvind Kejriwal acknowledged the issues raised by me and called them healthy.”
Yadav known to be a key strategist, had written to the Political Affairs Committee after his resignation from it charging the party with “falling prey to personality cult” and that the decisions taken reflected the wishes of the party chief. He described Kejriwal as a supremo.
However, Yadav also took the moral responsibility of the party’s poor performance in Haryana. “I take the moral responsibility of the party’s unfortunate performance in the state. It is up to Haryana convenor to answer questions raised by Naveen Jaihind. The NEC had taken the unanimous decision to contest 431 seats.”
He further added that the party is discussing the questions raised by its former leader Shazia Ilmi.
Kejriwal also said that he would talk to his former colleague Shazia Ilmi and try to get her back into the party fold. Shazi had resigned last month and accused the AAP of being run by a “crony clique” who take “impulsive decisions”.
Meanwhile, referring to the fanning out of his letters, Yadav said, “Media has confidential letters about the party. Whoever leaked them is not working in the interest of the party. The letters needs a collective introspection.”
