Actor Kamal Haasan is likely to make a foray into politics by launching his own political party by the end of September. Tamil Nadu is known as a state where actors like M.G. Ramachandran, J Jayalalithaa and Vijayakanth have achieved tremendous success in politics. Thus a question which arises here is will Kamal Haasan be able to emulate the success achieved by these politicians or will he become another Kejriwal? After his meeting with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on September 1, speculations were rife on his joining the CPI(M). The actor is eyeing the local body election scheduled to be held in November 2017. Kamal Haasan is trying to make the most out of the current political scenario prevailing in Tamil Nadu and is keen to fill the vacuum left by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The actor has been hinting about his intentions to join politics through the various statements made by him about the current situation in the state.

He had expressed his views in public about the incumbent AIADMK government. Haasan also appreciated the dismissal of AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala. Since the actor has a huge fan following he is leaving no stone unturned to connect with masses and make it big in politics. Haasan has appealed to citizens to vote him out if he fails to perform and asked them not to wait for five years. He is currently filming reality television show The Bigg Boss.

Bollywood dancer and choreographer, Sandip Soparkkar said, “Kamal Haasan has taken a right decision to enter politics. He is just following the footsteps of south Indian actors who have become successful in politics. On the other hand, very few Bollywood actors have been able to make an impact in politics. I think Kamal Haasan will be able to achieve success in politics as he has a huge fan following in south India. If he works hard then there will be no looking back for him.”

Capt R. Tamil Selvan BJP MLA said, “Anybody can establish a political party and in south many actors like MG Ramachandran, Periyar E.V Ramaswamy, Annadurai have worked hard to achieve success. If Kamal Haasan is willing to enter politics and serve the people then it is a right step. Vijayakanth had received a good response from people when he made an entry into politics. It is not easy to start a new party, run it efficiently and serve the people as they have to win the confidence of masses.”

Priya Dutt, former Congress MP said, “It is a right decision taken by Kamal Haasan. If he is able to contribute for the sake of the country’s development then it is justified.”
