Tough political battle in offing in Dahisar as rebel candidates will challenge Vinod Ghosalkar.

Know-Your-Neta-01-10-2014-leadFormer Mayor Shubha Raul who recently quit Shiv Sena to join MNS will contest the assembly election against sitting Sena MLA Vinod Ghosalkar from Dahisar. Raul was unhappy with the functioning of Ghosalkar and had said that he was ill-treating women. Raul is one of the three women councillors who alleged that Ghosalkar had been mentally harassing fellow Sena councillor Sheetal Mhatre who had quit the party to join Congress. She and BJP corporator Manisha Chaudhari too will be fighting the assembly election from the same constituency. Thus it’s a tough battle ahead for Ghosalkar who will be facing rebel candidates who have quit the party. Since all major parties have decided to go it alone, they have given candidature to corporators in large numbers.

Shubha had expressed her desire to contest election from Dahisar three months ago. However, the party denied tickets to her and fielded Ghosalkar from the same constituency. She was disappointed with the party’s decision and hence joined MNS and filed nominations.

“We had warned Uddhav Thackeray against giving a ticket to Ghosalkar, but the latter still managed to get a ticket. I felt like leaving politics at that point of time. However, after I watched Raj Thackeray’s blue print, I was impressed. The fact that they want me to join their party made me think about it. Hence, I decided to join the MNS. I will be raising the Ghosalkar issue and the disrespect he showed towards a woman throughout my campaign,” said Raul
