Ramya was rushed to Hyderabad’s Care Hospital, where she was put on ventilator support as she sustained grave injuries from the accident. She gradually slipped into coma.

An engineering student, Shravil (20) from Keshav Memorial Engineering College in Narayaguda Hyderabad, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was driving the i10. He along with his five friends suffered injuries in the crash.

Though Ramya was on the rear seat, she suffered multiple wounds in the accident. Ramya’s uncle Rajesh, who was driving, died on the spot, while the girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Though doctors had declared her brain dead after she was admitted to the hospital, the girl was on ventilator support and succumbed to her injuries, Banjara Hills Police Station Sub-Inspector G Vinod Kumar said.

Ramya’s mother Radhika, another uncle and grandfather had also suffered multiple fractures.

Shravil was arrested and booked under IPC section 304 (II) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). The accused is currently in judicial custody.
