Tensions flared once again along the Line of Control (LoC) as Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in the Uri and Gurez sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, triggering intense shelling in the region. According to official sources, the Pakistani army specifically targeted the Charunda and Hatlanga areas in Uri, located in the Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
Simultaneously, another breach was reported in the Bagtore area of the Gurez sector in Bandipora district. While heavy exchange of fire continued in both regions, no casualties have been reported so far, though the situation remains volatile. Further updates are awaited as the conflict escalates.
The latest provocation comes barely 24 hours after a woman was killed and two members of her family were injured due to cross-border shelling by Pakistani troops in Baramulla and Kupwara districts. These repeated violations threaten to undo the fragile calm along the LoC and risk wider military confrontation between the two nations.
