A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an unidentified man who gained entry into her Pune flat by posing as a courier delivery agent, police said on Thursday.
The shocking incident occurred around 7:30 pm on Wednesday in a housing society in the Kondhwa area of Pune. According to a senior police official, the woman was alone at home as her brother was out on an errand when the accused arrived pretending to deliver a package.
Once inside, the man allegedly raped the woman and then fled the scene. Police said there are unconfirmed reports that the attacker may have used a spray to incapacitate the victim before committing the crime, but this is still under investigation.
A probe is underway, and efforts are on to identify and apprehend the accused, officials added.
