A mother son-duo from Bhiwandi was arrested for alleged sexual and mental harassment of a married woman aged around 30 years, a police official said.
Police sub-inspector R V Patil of Bhiwandi city police station told that the victim lived with her three kids aged three, six and nine.
The accused’s mother has been identified as Sakina Azim Ali Shaikh (45) whose handicapped son Samad Azim Ali Shaikh (25) in the same locality, the police official said.
The three children used to frequent the house of the accused persons and this resulted in their mother developing an acquaintance with the accused, the police official said.
Allegedly the mother and son duo blackmailed the housewife threatening her that they would kill her kids as well as get her husband involved in false cases if she did not have sex with the handicapped son, the police official said.
Fed up with physical and mental harassment by the mother and son due between December 2012 and May 6, 2015, the housewife attempted suicide, the police official said.
The mother and son has been charged under Section 376, Section 384, Section 323, Section 504 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, the police official said, adding that the case is being probed further.
