Abhijeet Dipke Urges PM Modi to Grant ₹1 Crore Aid to Families of NEET Aspirants Who Died by Suicide 2

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding ₹1 crore compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide amid the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG paper leak and the subsequent re-examination.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Dipke claimed that 11 students had died by suicide in recent weeks, including five deaths reported within the last 48 hours. He alleged that uncertainty over the cancelled examination and the pressure of the upcoming re-test had significantly worsened mental stress among students.

Describing the situation as an “escalating crisis”, Dipke said he had personally met several affected families over the past two months and claimed many were now facing severe financial hardship after making substantial investments in their children’s education.

“These families have been left entirely destitute,” Dipke wrote, alleging that many parents had exhausted their savings and taken educational loans in pursuit of their children’s academic goals.

The CJP founder urged the Centre to provide an ex gratia compensation of ₹1 crore to every family that lost a child due to what he termed the “compounding crisis of paper leaks” and examination-related uncertainty.

Dipke also renewed his demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that repeated examination irregularities reflected deeper systemic failures within the country’s education system.

“The recurring systemic failures, mismanagements, and the crushing anxiety surrounding these examinations point to a collapse of our education system,” he stated in the letter.

Calling for immediate intervention, Dipke urged Prime Minister Modi to take “swift and decisive action” to restore confidence among students and parents. He warned that failure to address concerns surrounding examination management could further erode public trust in the education system.

The CJP leader also announced that students from across the country would gather at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from June 20 to press their demands and seek accountability over alleged examination irregularities.

The letter comes just days before the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has maintained that extensive security and administrative measures have been put in place to ensure a fair, transparent and secure examination process following the cancellation of the original test amid paper leak allegations.

The NEET-UG controversy has triggered widespread debate across the country, with students, parents and education activists raising concerns about examination integrity, student welfare and the need for stronger safeguards in competitive entrance tests.
